Setting Big & Bold #Girlboss Goals (& Actually Reaching Them)

BIG BOLD GIRLBOSS GOALS

I know why you’re here, I can see it in your eyes. You’ve got big dreams. You’re a hustler. And you’re ready to work for that dream life and reach some big goals, right babe?

I want you to spend all the time that you can working on your dreams, so I’ll keep this quick. Good luck, babe, let’s move some mountains!

 

Step 1: What Are Your Goals?

Now I want you to take a moment to picture your dream life. What do you need to do to get there? What do you need to accomplish? What needs to get done? Start brainstorming some goals that you have on a sheet of paper. 

Once you start getting some ideas down, keep your goals SMART (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, Timed), by making sure that your goals are clear, there’s a way that you can track it, you’re able to take action to actually make this happen, that they are realistic (50% realistic is fine too 😉), and that you have a deadline that you can be committed to. Make it easy for you to track your progress and see where you are on your journey to your goal!

 

TRACKING

So I'd say that the key to making progress on any goal is being able to see what your goal is, the steps you have to take and what you have done so far. In order to this, I have sheets of paper that I hang up in my office where I write my goal at the top of the page and include a photo to help me visualize it, and then I write down the steps below it with deadlines so I can easily see my progress, check things off, and see what else I have to do.

You could use index cards, sheets of papers, paper scraps, or you could do it digitally with a website or an app! But being able to track what’s been done and what you need to do is super helpful babe, so find a way that works for you and let’s get working on those goals!

 

Step 2: What Do You Have To Do To Reach Your Goals?

Now on your brainstorming sheet under the SMART goals that you’ve made, start listing things that you have to do in order to reach that goal. The trick is to make these tasks small enough so that you’re not intimidated by them! Believe me, this part is important, especially if you're not in a motivated mood. Doesn’t a small task that you can crank out in 15 minutes or less seem more approachable than spending two hours on a project? Exactly!

After listing all the steps, read over your brainstorming sheet and finalize your goal and the steps. Are some things just actions that you need to take once? Are there a couple things that you have to do everyday? Start making a finalized plan and transfer it onto your tracking sheet!

 

WHAT IF I DON’T REACH MY GOAL?

A struggle that some people have with creating goals is thinking, “what if i don’t meet my goal?”

This can cause people to set easy goals that they know they can reach, or prevents them from setting a goal at all!

I know that failing or not reaching a goal might seem like a big deal, and yes, it could be easier and feel better if you set a small goal that you know you can reach, but why not shoot for the big goal? The worst that can happen, babe, is that you won’t reach it, but you would have been hustling to reach it for so long that you’re still going to be making amazing progress! And who knows, maybe you do reach your goal!

Don’t be the reason that you’re shooting small, go big! There really is no “losing” situation here, so don’t be afraid to write down your biggest goals!

 

 

Step 3: Set Those Deadlines!

I find it so helpful to set deadlines to help keep me on track, especially if my goal has an end date associated with it. Keeping on a schedule can be useful in breaking up all the steps that your goal has and keep it non-intimidating. 

Always remember: the key to reaching all of your goals is to stay consistent. You have to consistently be showing up everyday to work on reaching your goals, because if you don’t, then no one will.

 

WHAT IF I HIT A SETBACK?

One thing that I find helpful to do when I am planning my goals, is to think about what could cause me a setback. Let's say my goal is to workout every morning. A potential setback could be that I spend too much time looking for my workout clothes in the morning that I end up spending too much time looking for it and then I never go on my run. The solution? Find and lay out my clothes the night before so I don't have to loo for them in the morning!

Try to think about this for all of your goals. What could sidetrack you? What could distract you? What could cause you to be unmotivated? And then think about how you can fix those problems to help you reach those goals!

 

Step 4: Go Get 'Em!

What happens after you’ve done all the planning and you’ve found a way that you’re going to start tracking your progress? Well, babe, now is your time to shine!
