Making Time in the Day For YOU (& Why It’s The Best Thing You’ll Ever Do)
The hustle lifestyle can be a struggle sometimes (or all the time?). Do you to go to bed some nights feeling empty, overworked, exhausted, and wondering why you’re doing work that doesn’t excite you or make you happy?
I know that sometimes we don’t really have a choice, and that’s just how it has to be. Maybe you’re in college and working another job in between classes to help pay off student loans.
Or maybe you’re working a corporate job that takes up the entire day, not leaving a lot of time to do other things, or maybe you’re a busy mom with a job and two kids and between your job, after-school activities and cooking for the family, you don’t find yourself with much time.
Or maybe you’re just in a time-consuming job that doesn’t leave you feeling like the confident and strong #Girlboss that I know you are.
A LITTLE SOMETHING ELSE
But even though I can’t give you a new job, transfer hundreds of dollars into your bank account or give you a few more hours in the day (although I totally would if I could, wouldn’t that be cool?), I’m gonna offer you a little something else, babe.
I know that some people say that they have NO time (hell, I’m guilty of saying this sometimes on the daily, too!), but if you actually think about it, and add up thrall the time on social media, the time that you’re procrastinating, the time that you’re on YouTube/Snapchat/Netflix, or the time that you seem to be doing things 10 times slower than you know you know you can do, then you’ve got some time.
Maybe it’s an hour or two. Maybe it’s just 15 minutes. But there is some way or something that you can do to find a few more minutes in the day.
If you make it a priority to be productive and try to keep yourself motivated, even the busiest of us can find a little time.
BE A QUEEN & SAVE TIME FOR WHAT’S IMPORTANT
But why should you even start “saving up” your time in the first place?
Because one way to get rid of that why-am-I-doing-this-everyday feeling is to start taking care of yourself and doing things that you love to do to keep you going throughout the day and making each day special.
Taking care of yourself, doing things that you love, the things that relax you, the things that inspire you, the things that excite you, or whatever else you want to call it, can have so many benefits.
- you will feel more relaxed
- you will feel more inspired
- you will feel more calm
- you will feel more focused
- you will feel more motivated
- you will feel more rested
- you will feel more content
- you will feel more complete
- you will feel more happy
- you will feel more productive
- you will feel more prepared
- you will feel more confident
- you will feel more important
- you will feel more like the queen that you are
Why wouldn’t anyone want that?
So by now you’re probably wondering how you can get these killer results.
It’s pretty simple even though sometimes it can seem like a complicated hassle. You just have to take care of yourself. You have to start looking out for yourself. You have to start making YOU a priority during the day, whether you’re at work, at school, or otherwise.
Hustling all the time is exhausting, and sometimes we just need to chill, relax, unwind and remember ourselves.
Otherwise we’ll stay exhausted, we’ll keep dragging through the day, we’ll keep feeling unmotivated, uninspired and wondering why we’re doing all this. And I don’t want that for you, babe.
WHAT TO DO
(1) DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE
Make a list of things that you love to do, and do one thing off of it everyday
Seems simple enough, right? Just think about what hobbies relax you, what activities you look forwards to doing and frankly, just think about the things that you’d rather be doing when you’re working.
Practice pleasure. Whether that’s walking in the park, catching up on your favorite tv show or visiting a small bookstore downtown, do things that make you feel good.
(2) TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF
Create a list of self-care items and do one thing off of it everyday
When your body is well-rested and well-nourished, your mind will be more well-rested, alert and ready to work. Seriously!
(3) LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
Sometimes you just need a break. I know that you wanna get shit done babe, but if you need a break, then take a break.
You'll be so much more productive and just feel better if you listen to your body. Take a break, walk outside , get an extra hour of sleep. Do what you need to do and you'll be rewarded with a better mood and a clearer, less exhausted mind.
This might take a little work or maybe just a few simple schedules swaps, but it is SO important to take care of yourself. I know that some days can be hard and busy, but those are the days that we need to look out for ourselves the most.
IMPORTANT REMINDER FROM YOURS TRULY:
From now on, you have to be your own best friend and start looking out for yourself. There’s too much work to do to have to be fighting against yourself when you’re also fighting to get your work done.
You wouldn’t let a friend overwork herself and run herself into the ground, would you? Then don’t let that happen to yourself.
